Statement:
"I like people and wildlife to look alive and like they could walk off the canvas, or a stream that looks alive with moving water ready to get you wet. I concentrate on creating a focus that glows, while paying close attention to edges and art principles that give a painting depth. I use the following design elements to mold my paintings;
a) develop a strategy to tell my feeling,
b) deliver a feeling or something to ponder on,
c) apply color in thought-out brushstrokes, and
d) use proven artistic guidelines.
I am particular about the harmonic composition, perspective, proportions, tone, and edges. Each painting is designed to capture a feeling and a moment in time. How the light falls, the colors, and the feeling of depth are very important to me. I love how I can use oil paint to bring rocks, water, and trees to life, thus my canvas becomes the reality.
Every brush stroke is deliberate and counts. I like to glaze layers of oil paint to make the colors glow. I may exaggerate the colors some to bring out feelings in the painting. Lastly, I always plan the composition in advance so that the right feeling, light and depth are portrayed."
